- tissue paper
- ribbon (enough to wrap around your box a few times)
- your wrapped gift
Cute gift wrap is one of my weaknesses. Today, I’m going to show you how to make your own tissue flower pom-pom for your gift. I love the idea of a pom-pom that is just as wide as the gift box itself. What I like about making your own versus buying one, is that you can size them however you want. How often do you come across ones that are huge? I have yet to, actually.
Step One: Grab three sheets of tissue paper that are all the same size. Fold the three pieces together until you get a long strip that’s roughly an inch wide. Cut the long strip into the length of gift box, plus an extra inch.
Step Two: Fold the tissue strip in half and pinch the fold together with your fingers. This is going to be your base. Take your scissors and cut along the two thickest fold lines, leaving about half an inch uncut from the base.
Step Three: Start fluffing the tissue pieces into a round flower. Feel free to make the pieces twist and wrinkle to give it some extra texture.
Step Four: Run your ribbon through the middle of the base and add a dab of glue. Pinch the base extra tight until the glue dries.
Step Five: Secure the newly made tissue flower pom-pom onto the center of your gift by wrapping your ribbon around the box. Tie the loose ends of the ribbon in a knot on the opposite site of the flower pom-pom.
And there you have it. A cute way to wrap up a baby shower present or your kid’s next birthday gift!
