Swallows from Sabine Timm
Duesseldorf, Germany-dwelling artist and illustrator Sabine Timm has a mighty fine collection of items from nature that she picked up while on nature walks and objects inspired by nature. I love the variety of the bits of nature she’s collected; twigs, flowers, and other remnants nature has dropped on the ground.

For this week’s Collections, we’re featuring beautiful things from nature collected and photographed by Portuguese artist and maker Alexandra Durão of Mi Mitrika, who owns a shop by the same name where she sells a myriad of crochet gloves, baskets, and other household items.
I love the way she arranged the shells in the second photo — so reminiscent of butterflies, no?
Head over to Alexandra’s Natureza | Nature set on her flickr stream to catch a glimpse of more of her natur collections.
One of the things I look forward to when going to the beach, apart from soaking up the sun and building sand castles, is looking for seashells. I haven’t found too many in recent years and I have yet to find a sand dollar outside of a shop, so maybe it’s time to explore other beaches along the coast of California?
Take a peek at some lovely collections from various folks (links to original sources are below the photo).
Anja Mulder shares a last name with one of my favorite characters from one of my favorite television series of all time: Fox Mulder from The X-Files. I watched the show religiously when I was twelve, whereas my friends at the time tuned into Dawson’s Creek (I sneaked a few peeks at Dawson’s Creek from time to time and it paled in comparison to the epic grandeur of The X-Files).
Anja’s epically beautiful collections are a sight for sore eyes. Anja was recently interviewed by one of my favorite bloggers, Evie S., where she shared what art means to her: “… it is a personal experience, based on instinct, something that can be shared and enjoyed, the expression of the maker makes you feel, art work provokes emotions.”
Here’s just a small sampling of the beauty Anja creates with her collections:
I’m fond of the donkey and the one with the feather the most, how about you?

This week’s collection comes from Sonia Cantié of Cozy Memories, stay-at-home-mom to two boys from Montpelier, France. Sonia is a maker of many fashionable products including scarves, household items, and photographic prints. Like Eva of Tinctory (whose collections were featured on the blog a few weeks ago), Sonia also uses local natural dyes to produce her work.
