Seeing these beautiful paper lamps and candlelights by UK-based artist Hannah Nunn made my eyes light up! Ten years ago, Hannah began making paper cut cards and enjoyed the silhouettes that were created when she held the cards up to a window. One of her friends suggested that she make lights and voila, Hannah’s paper cut lamps were born. Read more about Hannah via her Etsy profile.
Aren’t they a marvel? Illuminate your world with these breathtaking beauties!
Hannah has a book coming out in November of this year entitled illuminate highlighting 45 lighting artists from around the world and showcasing photos of their beautiful creations. Visit illuminate to learn more about the book.
Tea collection currently has some cute clothing for girls. My oldest daughter, who turned four last week is really into what she deems “girl colors” lately: violet, pink, and red. So I put together a little ensemble from Tea collection (many in the under $20 range, save for the shoes) based on “girl colors”.
I kind of want that dress and those shoes for myself!
pssst. Stay tuned next week for a “Tea for Boys” post.
Get ready to be enchanted by some of the most innovative works of art by Croatian graphic designer and illustrator Estera of Inside Creation, whose shop’s name is derived from “years of spiritual exploration of the ways of the world and [her] own existence inside this reality”.
It was awe at first sight when I happened upon Estera’s work, infused heavily with nature and fairytale-esque themes. What fairytales and other stories come to mind when you look at her work? I can spot Alice in Wonderland, in at least one of the images below.
Estera’s piece “The Storyteller” conjures up memories of The Neverending Story — one of my favorite childhood movies — for me.
I’ve mentioned before that my favorite insect is a butterfly. I see them as ballerinas of the insect world, graceful in flight and seemingly light as a feather. I’m happy to present you with a roundup of creative and colorful butterfly DIYs with which to adorn your home or yourself if you’re keen on being a butterfly queen for Halloween in a couple months or if you have little ones who want to be a unique butterfly princess.
Happy Friday! I’m neck-deep in last-minute birthday party decoration-making (read: mess-making) and dessert-making (read: mess-making and dessert-tasting) for my oldest daughter who turned four this past Wednesday. We’re celebrating her birthday tomorrow and the theme for her party is …
… stay tuned next week for the reveal!
In the interim, head over to one of my favorite eco-friendly letterpress shops Smock and do some shopping for a good cause. Now through Sunday, Smock is offering an additional 25% off of sale items when you purchase a box of cards from their line of Change the World cards. There are two styles of cards in the Change the World set and 100% of the profits from the sales go directly to these crucial environmental causes:
1. The fracking cards (pictured above) are also packaged with a temporary tattoo and “helps Earthworks’ Oil & Gas Accountability Project change the gas and oil industry in order to protect the environment and our drinking water”.
2. The sunflower letterpress cards (pictured below) include a bee-friendly organic sunflower seeds and helps “the Pesticide Action Network North America to address Colony Collapse Disorder and helps save the honey bees“.
